In 2014, Angela and Amanda started a seafood business. It was a natural fit for these two Mainers whose family members lobster from the Pemaquid Peninsula. Knowing the area and the seafood market, they saw a demand for freshly picked or prepared seafood and decided to see what they could do.
Since that modest beginning from a wharf on Thompson Road in Round Pond, Two Ladies Lobster and Seafood has grown steadily selling wholesale seafood to markets and restaurants all over Maine. Theirs is a completely woman-run business, now employing local workers in addition to themselves, and it’s open most of the year, closed only when the harbor’s frozen.
Two Ladies Lobster and Seafood also sells directly to retail customers from its Round Pond wharf with an offering of popular seafood choices. Picked crab meat, started as a secondary offering, is in top demand and often sells out in summer.
Both wholesale and retail businesses are growing, and the two ladies in charge - Angela and Amanda - are working very hard to continue that growth.
